One Echo

I was asked to compose a poem for a friend of mine for the inside of a wedding program... Its not often when it just falls in place - First time round:)

One Echo

Like sea shells gathered on a sun kissed beach
Echo me a song of love
Echo me a promise of forever
Echo me a pray for joy everlasting
And when all is done hold my hand

Like sea shells frolicking on constant waters
Be my love as I am your beloved
Be the glimmer in my eye whenever I see you
Be the North Star that will forever guide me home
Be mine

So as sea shells gather on sun kissed beaches
And frolick on constant waters
Today I make my love made known,
My intricate engravings here echo my solemn word
Two sea shells, One echo
Our Love

Heads Up!

Heads Up!
Well , well, well, There she is
Lady of her own, Shaken – not broken
Standing, even if its on a limp foot
Smiling in spite of the thorn in her side
Real because she lives, She has survived
Life didn’t finish her , She lives
Love failed her, but she still resists the disappointment
The temptation to fold over , and give up

Purpose drives her, love inspires her
And dispite life’s toll
She exsists, pursists, loves, lives
She may be you, She may be me…true
Woman you are strong, and someone needs you to survive, Phambili!
It’s the only way
One love, One chance, One live
To inspire, to change, to motivate and to make great, an exsistence

To the dry soil that gave birth to us, to the storms that shoke us
And the meteors that tried to smoother us
We are stronger, refined and wise round about now
So like a cowering dog with its tail between its legs
Negativity be gone, sadness you have no home here
And your memory is buried so deep within the foundations of our dreams of empires
that your snout could never imagine to see that light
She is taking hold now…

Woman take hold of what is yours
Your dreams, your life, your pride and self worth
You are a Queen, a survivor, an inspiration
Heads Up fellas ..this one is a keeper

Sisters of Hope

Sisters of hope

It has been a long haul to the new year
So I would just like to dedicate this following poem I wrote to all my sistaz who had a tough year last year.
2008 is going to be a fresh year…embrace it and remember… time heals most wounds,

To the sister who struggled to be free,
To the sister who didn’t have a voice,
To the sister who was scared too go home,
To the sister who couldn’t sleep,
To the sister who couldn’t find love
To the sister who didn’t have faith
To the sister who was hurt

Arise sisters who survive, divaz of destiney, women of worth. There’s hope.

Hope that our shackles can be broken
Hope that we can find our voice and be heard
Hope that home will be where the heart is and the heart is drawn to family
Hope that we will find rest in our inner most being
Hope that love has found us already
Hope that faith knows us by name,
Hope brings healing it brings joy, embrace it
Hope was born in us and it has brought us here. We have survived, we have traveled that road.

We are hopeful for tomorrow because we have survived through yesterday, live through today and have a vision for tomorrow.

Lots of love
