For the Sake of Sanity

This is for a lady close to my heart,
This is my way of showing my empathy… I am not too good with saying things out loud sometimes but I have found my voice with a pen and a paper in my hand, I pray you will understand…

For the Sake of Sanity

For the sake of Sanity I chose not to cry
I chose not to die,
For the sake of sanity I forget that day
And I continue to sincerely pray,
For the sake of sanity I close my eyes as a tear drops
I bow lift my head and think of mountain tops,
For the sake of sanity I work hard
And I press so hard…
I nearly break this lead
Honestly- some things are easier said,

Have faith, tomorrow will be a better day
I know that’s the right thing to say,
But is it really?
For all the pain, for all the drain
As thinking is too tiring,
And those invasive tears now piling…
A puddle on your lap
Only time has the switch for the raging tap…

For the sake of sanity I chose to smile
To put a ray of sunshine on your dial,
For the sake of sanity I chose to love
Just as our heavenly father up above,
I choose to live, and to forgive

For the sake of sanity I chose to write
And with a pen and paper to fight the fight, (the battle of wills inside me)
I chose to exercise my right…
To remain silent… we know that there is a higher power who will take our stand
For now... it’s for me to sit down
And simply hold your hand…

The only other thing I can say besides the words I wrote in this poem is the old children’s Sunday school song…

“He’s got the whole world in his hands….”

Another Marilyn Manroe

Oh man…

See her, uh huh…

High heels clicking on the side walk

Hair swish swaying with the wind

Smile as bright as the sun

Voice as charming as breaking waters

Watch her as she gathers her bellowing dress around her legs

Scandalous…..

Watch her as she brings out her charm

Dazzling them out of their socks

Watch her as she salutes them with a wave

They resistance crumbles

Oh man…

See her, Um mmh

Sneakers bouncing off the pavement

Braids swish swaying to the beat

Smile as bright as the sun

Voice as harmonious, rhythmical as the drums

Watch her as she bumps to the beat

Youngstaz!

Watch her as she gathers the crowds

Wowing them with her soundz

Getting them into a dancing frenzy

Watch her as she salutes them with a 'Holla!"

The crowd roars….

She is the Goddess of her time

The reason behind every rhyme

She is the life that resounds deep within

She is the memory that will forever live

She is the Diva

She is the Sista

She is me…

Or maybe…

Just another Marilyn Monroe

Today you died!

This is for those who woke up one morning and realiesd it was over,
There is life after death has come and gone... live on!

Today you died...

Yesterday you had a chance,
Yesterday you could have had it all,
Yesterday you could have loved me,
Yesterday was a good day you know,
Yesterday you could have…
Yesterday you should have…
You didn’t

Today you looked at me for the last time,
Today you saw my tears for the last time,
Today you hurt me for the last time,
Today you took your last breath in my life and you left,
Today you where cremated in the burning flames of my hurt ,
Your ashes where shed far behind me,
Today I kissed you goodbye… You didn’t kiss me back

Tomorrow will be a new day
Tomorrow will be a good one
Tomorrow I will smile
Tomorrow there will be no resurrection
Tomorrow you won’t be there
Tomorrow there will be new hope for me
Tomorrow my life will go on

I am not surprised, because…
Today you died!

The Chic Diva Welcomes You

Below is a poem I wrote quite a while ago now, last year to be precise.
Its when i first realised what a big part of my life self expression played. Straight after writtingthis i painted what is probably one of the best painting i have ever painted...
here i realise who i am and who i seem to be... wel lets just say that we all grow to learn more about ourselves everyday.
I feel I am correct to say i have fallen in love with me. Thats probably the best thing someone can do for themselves.

So with this simple poem I give a big up to the music that inspires us, the voices that teach us, the beats that move us and last US. We are more than just perfect versus over tyt beats....

The Chic Diva Welcomes You

Welcome to the Afrocentric Cosmos
This is a queendom, a domain of royal rule
Herein resides a Princess, a Diva
Welcome to the land where African meets Euro
The perfect balance of both
Which had bought forth a child
A symbol of her generation
A tragedy of the previous

Herein lies a testimony once scorned
But now radiates in the joy freely given

Herein lies a something waiting to emerge into a big thing
Embrace her for she loves you
She loves you as she too is loved

Enter into a land where colour denotes bright hues
Of green, yellow, orange, pink
Where black and white where simply the main ingredients to a grey
Welcome to the land that loves purity
And doesn’t only pay lip service to it

Welcome to the land that sees women of virtue
Arise from children of suffering
A land that sees joy and love ooze from a war torn generation

I am the land of which I speak
I am the wound that’s healed
I welcome you to me because I love you

I am the Chic Diva that welcomes you
