This is for a lady close to my heart,
This is my way of showing my empathy… I am not too good with saying things out loud sometimes but I have found my voice with a pen and a paper in my hand, I pray you will understand…
For the Sake of Sanity
For the sake of Sanity I chose not to cry
I chose not to die,
For the sake of sanity I forget that day
And I continue to sincerely pray,
For the sake of sanity I close my eyes as a tear drops
I bow lift my head and think of mountain tops,
For the sake of sanity I work hard
And I press so hard…
I nearly break this lead
Honestly- some things are easier said,
Have faith, tomorrow will be a better day
I know that’s the right thing to say,
But is it really?
For all the pain, for all the drain
As thinking is too tiring,
And those invasive tears now piling…
A puddle on your lap
Only time has the switch for the raging tap…
For the sake of sanity I chose to smile
To put a ray of sunshine on your dial,
For the sake of sanity I chose to love
Just as our heavenly father up above,
I choose to live, and to forgive
For the sake of sanity I chose to write
And with a pen and paper to fight the fight, (the battle of wills inside me)
I chose to exercise my right…
To remain silent… we know that there is a higher power who will take our stand
For now... it’s for me to sit down
And simply hold your hand…
The only other thing I can say besides the words I wrote in this poem is the old children’s Sunday school song…
“He’s got the whole world in his hands….”
